Difficulty is adapted to the dog’s level, age and experience. We can begin with simple searches and gradually progress to exercises requiring greater accuracy, patience and problem-solving ability.
Search games and the handler-dog bond
When a handler learns to observe and support the dog without solving the exercise for them, scent work also becomes a valuable communication tool. The dog develops initiative while the person learns to read signals, pace and individual searching style more accurately.
